How PinPoint Treasure Works

PinPoint Treasure moves from a question to GPS coordinates in five stages.

Step 1 — Describe what you're looking for. Open the AI Companion and describe a specific lost treasure, a type of historical site, or a region. The AI understands context so you can refine as you go.

Step 2 — AI conducts multi-source research. The AI simultaneously queries USGS 3DEP LiDAR, OpenTopography, BLM records, geological surveys, historical newspaper archives, and the National Register of Historic Places through dedicated backend functions.

Step 3 — Review your intelligence briefing. Results include specific GPS coordinates in decimal degrees, evidence grades based on converging data sources, the full evidence chain, and citations to every source for independent verification.

Step 4 — Explore on the interactive map. Every target appears as a pin. Toggle satellite imagery, USGS topographic, LiDAR hillshade, geological layers, and BLM land status. The map updates as new information is discovered.

Step 5 — Head to the field. Export coordinates to any GPS device, review terrain difficulty and weather, and log finds in the field to build a verified record of every site you investigate.

The data sources integrated on the backend include USGS 3DEP LiDAR (laser terrain scans revealing subsurface anomalies and historical road traces), OpenTopography (DEMs, DSMs, and point cloud data), the Bureau of Land Management (federal land status, ownership boundaries, mining claims), the National Register of Historic Places, the Macrostrat geological database, and historical archive search across digitized newspapers, court records, mining logs, and land patents.

The workflow is designed so a single operator can do research that previously required a team of researchers, cartographers, and analysts.
