Community Finds and Shared Discoveries

Community is where PinPoint Treasure users can publish their own field finds and browse discoveries shared by others. A published entry can carry a description of the object, the material and apparent era, the general area it came from, and notes on the research that led there.

The feed is opt-in. Nothing a user records privately — saved locations, hunt sessions, signal logs, or research notes — appears here unless that user chooses to publish it. Exact coordinates are not a requirement of publishing, and users regularly share a find without disclosing the precise spot.

The intent is method rather than trophies. A useful entry explains what records or terrain signals pointed at the site, what was actually recovered, and how those two things compared. Negative outcomes are as informative as positive ones: a well-researched area that produced nothing is a documented result and rules ground out for the next person.

There are currently no published discoveries. The feed is newly opened and will show entries as users choose to publish them. Until then this page describes what the feature does rather than reporting activity on it.

Anything shared here is a user account, not a verified record. Community posts are not graded under the evidence framework that applies to PinPoint Treasure research output, and they should be read as first-hand reports rather than confirmed findings.

Users remain responsible for the legality of their own recoveries — land permission, state and federal rules, and the treatment of protected material on public ground. Publishing a find here neither establishes ownership nor implies the recovery was lawful.
