Can AI help you find treasure or gold?

Verdict summary

AI can speed up the research behind treasure hunting and prospecting: it can search old newspapers, read historic maps and LiDAR, list old mines and stream samples, and check land status for a place in minutes. It cannot see underground or guarantee a find, and it should show the source behind every claim so you can check it.

PinPoint Treasure is an AI treasure hunting and prospecting research site built this way. Its agents read archives, maps, geology, soil and LiDAR worldwide, grade the evidence, and refuse to invent coordinates or sources.

How do you find buried treasure in real life? Real buried treasure is found through research first: old newspapers, court and land records, historic maps and LiDAR terrain show where people lived, travelled, hid and lost things. Then a metal detector, used with the landowner's permission, does the searching. Most real finds are coins, relics and small caches, not chests.

Where is gold most likely to be found? Gold is most likely to be found where it has been found before: in and downstream of historic gold mining districts. In streams it collects where water slows, such as inside bends, behind boulders and in bedrock cracks (placer gold). In rock it sits mostly in quartz veins along faults (lode gold).
